OAKMOSS

he Oakmoss Lichen, Evernia prunastri, is commonly found on hardwoods throughout the West Coast. The foliose thallus branches dichotomously once a year, allowing the plant's age to be estimated by counting a series of branch points. Its extracts are used in fine perfumes, acting as a fixative for other scents. It is also a popular source of natural dye.
